Here you'll find the latest news and developments from Country Style Foods!
The Quality of Country Style's Bread and Desserts once again achieve recognition at the Grocer Own Label Awards.
We are delighted that this year three of our products have been singled out at the prestigious Own Label Awards held at the Hilton in London's Park Lane.
A tally of two Silver Medals and one strong Finalist comes as a well-received pat-on-the-back to our experienced development team.
A real favourite of ours; the Morning Roll was considered to be "the perfect start to the day" in the Traditional Bakery Section and was "especially popular in (the) Northern hinterland, where three quarters rated this 'better than what's out there'."
Another Silver Medallist was our very special KeyLime Semi Freddo, which scored a maximum 20 marks for innovation in the Frozen Dessert section. High praise came from the tasting panel and it drew comments such as "absolutely beautiful" and "a wonderful mix of flavours". The real success of this product is that it is at its very best as a frozen product and so is suited to a long storage time with the option of an impulse tasting; a versatility that traditionally only ice cream can offer.
We were very pleased that our Ciabatta reached a strong shortlist in the Speciality Bread section.
Our Artisan bread production goes from strength to strength and we were satisfied that the panel considered this typical product for us to be "a very good example of its type".

The British Pie Awards recognise Country Style's expertise in pie-making with two Gold Medals in the Bramley Apple Pie Category.
Our other submissions, the very popular rhubarb and cherry pies were also commended in the dessert pie category.
Charles Campion, food writer for the London Evening Standard and Xanthe Clay, food writer for the Daily Telegraph joined a very large judging panel who filled St. Mary's church in Melton Mowbray to taste a huge array of entries.
Country Style are supporters of the Bramley Apple Campaign who kindly sponsored this category and we agree that the bramley apple is a unique cooking ingredient with the best properties for a traditional British Apple Pie.

Country Style Wins Gold at the Grocer Own Label Awards
Once again Country style has impressed consumers and a prestigious judging panel with our fabulous range of bakery products.
Our Banoffee Pie took Gold in the hotly contested Desserts and Puddings category and we were delighted that another of our highly successful indulgent range, the Deluxe Raspberry Roulade, was also shortlisted.
Mark Astley of Country Style who collected the award said "This is a very competitive area; we have been developing and improving our Banoffee Pie for well over 10 years, so this recognition is very satisfying".
The balance of sweetness with the freshness of the banana in this pie was considered to be the reason for its universal popularity and in a year where Own Label products seem to be so strong in the marketplace we hope to see this product go from strength to strength.

Country Style bagels gain recognition at the Grocer Own Label Awards
The popularity of Country Style bagels are going from strength to strength, and our multigrain variety was given a wonderful consumer report at the Grocer Own Label Awards.
Scoring well above the category average, our multigrain bagel scored particularly highly in taste, texture and value for money.
The consumer summary reported "Having expected the typical heavy, hard consistency of traditional bagels, they were delighted with the light texture of this offering, whilst the seeded coating provided a crunchy contrast to the soft centre, as well as adding a sweet, nutty flavour."

Country Style Foods win Own Label Excellence Award
This year two products manufactured by Country Style were picked out as finalists for The Grocer Own Label Excellence Awards. The Best Frozen Food in the sweet category went to the Co-Op's 'Truly Irresistable Berry Bliss' and the Asda Carrot and Pumpkin Seed Loaf was marked out as a finalist in the Bakery Savoury category.
Entries for these awards are scored by consumer panels all over the country and a shortlist reaches the second round of judging. Here prestigious figures from the food industry including Masterchef's Gregg Wallace select the category winners.
Score sheets for Truly Irresistable Berry Bliss reveal that Consumer panels could not praise this dessert highly enough and considered it to be "gorgeous" "Indulgent" and "Absolutely heavenly".
Our Carrot & Pumpkin Seed Loaf was described as really exceptional and the judges comments show that this bread is not only considered to be unusual but also fitted in with a health conscious choice.
These awards allow a select few products on the market to be distinguished by the Own Label Excellence logo as a connoisseurs choice.

wonderful comments from the judges; "The judges were treated to a riot of colour... One cannot help but feel it
has a positive impact on the company and its employees".
Christine Wood is well aware of the increasing standards of this competition
and she has encouraged Nigel to become ever more ambitious with his

California Raisin Bread Competition
Country Style Foods reach the finals with its highly commended California Raisin Wholegrain Bloomer.
We have always appreciated the properties of raisins as a wonderful ingredient to use in bakery products. They are a natural sweetener and preservative and improve the moisture of the dough.
After developing several versions of raisin bread we arrived at a wholegrain bloomer with a slightly sourdough levain which was fit to contend a prize for "the most amazing raisin bread in the land".
The bread is hand crafted in a traditional artisan process; after mixing, the dough is rested and allowed to ferment naturally in a cool place. After 12 hours the full flavours have been allowed to develop and the dough is gently moulded into bloomer, proved for another 2 hours and baked on the sole of a stone oven.
The California Raisin wholegrain bloomer can be enjoyed on its own or as part of a meal at any time of day.
It is a naturally healthy eating bread with no added sugar or flavours and is 99% fat free.
It stays fresh for up to a week and is probably at its best after two or three days.
